Methylated Spirits is an alcohol-based solvent, and has several uses.

Methylated Spirits can be used in small camping stoves and lamps, however check that the stove is designed to use Methylated Spirits beforehand.

Methylated Spirits cleans most kinds of ink from non-porous surfaces. For example, it can remove 'permanent' marker from metal and plastics. On wooden surfaces you should however take care, as it can also remove some 'finish' (surface treatments, like varnish or wax).
